I signed up for a 52 week photo project...this is the fourth week and it is time for a self portrait. I set it all up and took a few pictures. Then I set Ryan up and gave him the remote and I have to say he took a few really good photos of himself...

Then I tried to get a few pictures of just me and the kids

I LOVE how they turned out. My kids make me happy. Just being near them makes me smile. Even when I'm tired, even when they are driving me crazy...

And I have been playing around with the camera asking the kids to give me different faces

And by deep cleaning the house. Ans washing lots and lots of laundry. This is the face when I told the girl if she didn't let me look through every strand of her hair that I would cut all her hair off too. ( I would never seriously shave her head, but Lily doesn't have to know that)

So I guess I never posted any pics from Lily's birthday...I've been bad at blogging lately. So I'm going to try more this year. So without any more slacking here are the pics from Lily's birthday.

She started the day at preschool, where she was the special birthday girl.

She got sit in the birthday chair, with a birthday crown and was given a birthday book by her teacher.

We went o Sky High Sports, a trampoline place that my brother Will works at. My friend Britt made. It was AMAZING!

The annual hunt for the Christmas tree

This last Sunday my mom, grandma, myself, and Lily all went to our city's Ballet of the Nutcracker

it was amazing, gorgeous and most of all it was a blast watching Lily clap at the end of each Act.

After the show we went toa real "tea-party" It was a fundraiser for the ballet's outreach program. Lily was dancing in the hall waiting for the tea to start.

My birthday!!!! 29.... one more year to go until Tim and I turn 30. Wow...

OK Things I want to do before I'm 30

1. Sing in a band...(only for like a minute) I think I would die of stage fright. So if you know someone I could practice with, let me know.

2. Go camping. (done, post to follow)

3. Write a book of poetry (I'm thinking it will be based on my experience with motherhood)

4. Read War and Peace. I have never read it. I'm daunted by Russian literature

5. Organize, style and shoot a themed engagement session. I'm thinking Breakfast at Tiffany's

6. Start a food blog. I already have a name, The Borrowed Recipe, and a web address. Now if I only had the energy to post something to it.
I think I will start with those things...If i finish another one of those soon i will have to add more

Today my little girl went to Preschool. I'm a little sad...but I know thats normal.

Temple Stop

Today as we were driving around...after leaving Lily's doctor for her PRESCHOOL physical, (Yes I said PRESCHOOL! No I can't believe it,) Lily said Let's go to the temple. With better things to do I said No...not today. Then she cried and I said OK. So we went.
Luckily I had my camera with me and grabbed a few shots

Today we took a day trip to Muir Woods. We met up with my cousins, Haley and Stephanie, and ventured to the great outdoors!

Easter

We had a very busy Easter weekend. It started with a ride on the Easter Egg Train out of Woodland. There were activities and entertainment on the train. Then they stopped at a park for an egg hunt that included visits with the Easter bunny, storytelling and cupcakes.

After we got home from that, we went to my mom's for more Easter festivities. It seems like only yesterday that I was one of the little kids.

Whew! Are we ever glad that the rain has decided to stay away for a while. We have been taking advantage of the great outdoors! Which means in in kid language a lot of extra park time. I think we have been to one park or another everyday since the rain dissipated.
Today we went to "The Property" with my Mom, and my Sister-in-law Waldina, for a picnic. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. The only thing I'd wish for more of is some cute smiles from the kids.

Rain Rain Go Away!

So for what felt like an Eternity, our little neck of the woods was drowned in rain. After pulling out hair out because we were so bored we finally decided to have a little fun.

Elefun to be exact!

A charming little game where you catch butterflies that get blown out of an Elephants trunk.

It kept us entertained for at least an hour. Ryan now walks around saying "Elefun, Elefun!' Which sounds really close to 'Haella fun"

We then moved on to Hungry Hungry Hippos. Which despite playing with my toddlers, I feel competive and have the urge to crush them at this game.

Then we played keep away and tag.

Folllowed by the ever popular "Couch Diving".

I hope that this gives all of you a few ideas for when the next rainy day hits.

Valentine Heartbreak

This Valentines Day Lily had her first heartbreak. She knows a set of twin boys that she loves. She refers to them as "my boys," and often includes then in her prayers. Well on Valentines Day we made homemade Valentine hearts. She colored them and said which heart was to go to which boy. We made sugar cookies the night before which were also to be included in the valentines. Well... we were promised that the boys would stop by. Lily waited all day. They never came. Their Mom got busy and didn't make it over. I didn't think Lily would mind.
When I went to put her to bed, she started to cry. "Lily? Whats Wrong" I asked. "Mommy. My boys never came to get their Valentines" Followed by crocodile tears ans sobs. My hear broke. I tried to reassure her and tell her that we would see them tomorrow. She said OK, and then went to bed wiping the tears from her eyes.
I can't tell you how sad and funny it was at the same time. I told Adrian and he said "Well it won't be the first time she cries over a boy on Valentines Day"

Snow Day

We went to the snow for our Five year anniversary for a Snow day trip. We packed up the car loaded the kids and away we went for a good time...or so we thought. It turns out that the kids don't like snow or fun unless they have their cousins there. So I only took a few photo's before we even made it into the snow. None after or during. Also...midway into our snow fun it was so warm we stripped out of jackets hats and gloves. Next time please come with us...Please?

So...I started this fitness bootcamp...

It's a lot of work and kind of fun. But today I am feeling the burn of sore muscles and a tight hamstring. Now that being said I am looking forward to hopefully getting some tone back into my poor under-used muscles and actually fitting into the clothes that I already own. I'm also thinking that my dusty gym membership will no longer feel so lonely at the bottom of my purse.

I have to say that November was a blast! We did so many fun things that I just want to remember and didn't have the time to blog about before. So I will start with the oldest event and work my way forward.

November 11, 2010.
Brandon Flowers solo tour ( lead singer of my favorite band The Killers) in Oakland CA
If I had done an individual post about this night I would have called it "Girl at the Rock Show" or..."an ode to Brandon Flowers"

I took all of the photos with my cell phone. I wanted to bring my camera but Adrian said it probably wouldn't be allowed in the theatre.

For anyone who doesn't know...I LOVE the Killers and Brandon Flowers. I listen to thier albums all the time. Adrian would say I was obsessed with them. He's not wrong. There is something with the music that I connect to. Brandon Flowers is LDS. I can hear his spirtuality in his lyrics, it comes across in his lyrics. It's not obvious. But I can sense it. It's poetry of the kind I like.

Also, there is something about being at a live show. It's awesome. I can't explain how hearing the music live, and feeling it all around you, makes me feel. Maybe its because I fell in Love with Adrian at a live show. It wasn't the Killers, it was at a small club called Slim's in San Francisco.I don't rember the bands we were there to see, I didn't like them. I did however like Adrian and there was no going back from there.

And now that everyone thinks I'm ridiculous...

We had an amazing time...I've seen the Killers in San Francsico, Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, Arco Arena, also in Sacramento, and Now Mr. Flowers in Oakland. And besides the show at the memorial Auditorium, this last one was my favorite.

Yo Gabba Gabba Live
We Love, Yo Gabba Gabba, if anyone is familiar with a little band known as The Aquabats, they are the creators of this kids show. Lily LOVES this show. So when we heard the Live show was coming to town we bought tickets. we left Ryan at home and we took the little princess. It was a blast!!! We would definitely see that again.

We also discoverd that her favorite character is Foofa. We had no idea. So she got her first concert t-shirt. Hopefully the first of many.

Nordstrom's Fall Fashion Show

While shopping with Grandma, Uncle Tim, and cousin Addie for Christmas dresses, the girls were invited to participate in the Fall Fashion show.

On the morning of the show, Lily was so excited! She could hardly wait to get dressed and go to the fashion show. Lily and addie were supposed to walk out together.

Addie came out, Lily ( much to the un-suprise of Adrian and myself) did not and would not come out.

I guess what I'm saying is that Lily does not appear to have a future in modeling. I didn't even take one picture of her all dressed up.

No wait.. its not my birthday...it's Adrian's. His birthday is on Saturday mine is not for another month. So in honor of his big day he got ME a present. OK OK its an early birthday present. I got a new lens for my camera. A macro lens! here are the few odds and ends from playing with it today.

We have seriously been considering getting a puppy. I have been swearing to anyone who has asked me in the last couple months that we ARE NOT getting a dog. And if we were it WOULD NOT be a PUPPY.I have said that we cannot posibly have the time for a puppy, they are TOO much work, more work than an infant even.

That being said, my mom has a litter or Border Collie Puppies. They are cute and cuddly, look like little panda bears, and in general are pretty smart and easy to train. Adrian saw them when were over at my parnets and suggested that we could get one. So I have been weighing the pros and the cons and even with all the cons I think We are REALLY going to get one.

So my Sister-in-law Nicole, and my niece Addie, came over to play with us last week. I got out my camera to capture a few images of the afternoon. I tried a couple of group shots...

May has been busy!

First it was my Moms birthday:

Then I went off to Washington DC with the nurses union for a conference, where I did some picketing at a local hospital, marched on Washington to the capitol in a rally for nurses and healthcare reform. We were then treated and various stages in the three days I was there to speakers like the U.S. Secretary of Labor, the president of the ALFO-CIO, Barbara Boxer, Al Franken, and Bernie Sanders (the socialist.) Wow did I ever feel like a fish out of water.

Then my little brother-in-law had his First Communion. It was mostly in Spanish and I had to keep asking Adrian what was going on. He said "I don't know. I haven't been Catholic in a really long time!" One of Adrian's uncles came up from Mexico and he made 50 llbs of Carnitas in the traditional way.

Ryan turned 10 months:

Then Scott and Aunt Pat had Birthdays. Grandpa had a birthday, and finally William graduated High school from my old Alma Mater CHS. TEN YEARS after I did. Oh and he graduated in the top 10% of his class and received a four year $32,000 scholarship to Southern Virginia University. Awesome! Well that about sums it up!

It's been a busy weekend. My mom turned the big 5-0 and it was also mothers day weekend. I have to say that I love my mom. We sometimes have our differences, (like all mothers and daughters do) but I have learned everything I know about faith,honesty,perseverance, love and most of all how to be a Mother. We to snuck away to the magical Kingdom on a family adventure. I have to say the kids were real troopers. They did amazing even when we spent all day in the Park and they napped in their strollers. We had so much fun! The best part was watching Lily meet the charchters . She thought they were so real. She had an autograph book that had all the princessess on it. She would show each princess her picture! It was really cute. The parades were amazing too. Lily and Ryan would wave at all of their "friends!" We are ready to go back again already!

Sacramento has recently opened its first Pinkberry! Formerly, this frozen-yogurt treat could only be found in LA or NY. So I was excited when it opened here. I have been twice in the last week and I have to say it is worth the hype. I'm vowing to go again sometime this week to partake of its yogurty goodness. In fact it has been occupying every spare thought that I have had and I keep devising ways to ditch the kids and go. I know, sounds terrible but I really dont want to share. So here is to hoping for a chance to go get some more!

Eight Months!

I can't believe eight months have flown by. This little dude is amazing. He crawls he stands he walks by holding onto tables chairs, anything. I only have one fear, and that is that he will be walking alone by nnine months.He is very busy and keeps me on my toes. He has two teeth and four more coming in. He eats everything we give him and is a very social little dude. We only wish he would stay a baby longer.

We have been sick,SICK, and SICKER since the beginning of January. So now that Febuary is almost over; We are feeling better. And we are ready to come out and play! But as a disclaimer if you or anyone else in your home is sick or has been sick recently we will not be coming over to play. We are officialy sick and tired of being sick and tired.

But now here is an update of everything that has been going on. First Ryan will be seven months old on wednday. ...and we can't belive it. He is doing all kinds of things seven month olds shouldnt be doing. He is standing, crawling, crawling up things and attempting to take an assisted step or two while holding on to stuff.Someone please tell me where my baby went! He has two bottom from teeth and likes to babble and giggle and laugh at everything.

His latest stats at his six month check-up were he was 28 and 1/2 inches long. (That would be in the 95th percentile for his age) Would someone tell me where we got a tall kid from? He was also weighed in at 18lbs 10 oz.

Lily has been up to all kinds of tricks. Mostly in the talking catergory. She is saying everything in sentences now. I think she has been a little slow to be verbal but the word explosion has finaly arrived! We have also been thinking about the dreaded POTTY-TRAINING. Does anyone have any good advice for me? But other then that we have been chalking outside, playing hopscotch, reading books and we also went to Disney on ice. Lily now has a new love for Tinkerbell.

So Sunday Nov.1 was Lily's 2nd birthday and also it was fast sunday so we had Ryan's baby blessing as well. I figured Two birds with one stone. It was really busy with Halloween being the night before.

I know its been a while but ever since I went back to work we have been super busy! SO here are a few pictures of when we went to the pumpkin patch, sometime around the beginning of October, and Halloween night at the trunk-or-treat.

Today my little man turned two months. We certainly cannot believe how quickly time has flown. Ryan is such a joy and a blessing in our lives. He is almost always happy and very sweet. He is smiling and cooing and holding his head up pretty well. We love him to pieces. He is now 12 pounds four ounces and 24 1/4 inches long. I hope the nwxt month lasts a little longer.

We went on a short trip up the hill to find such exotic treats as Apple doughnuts, Carmel Apples, Apple Cider and Apple Pie! We also stopped for a short pony ride. Lily wouldn't ride by herself so I rode with her.

So lately Lily has been asking to go to church alot. Everyday as a matter of fact. I have been so amazed by this development. I asked Adrian if he thought it was amazing and he matter of factly told me "It's the light of Christ" So now that I was amazingly proud of my little girl I started to notice some things that occurred when church was mentioned

1. She giggles when the word church is said during prayer time.

2. when I mention a certain set of adorable twin boys she says”Church?!"

3. Lastly when we leave a play date with aforementioned adorable boys she says "Bye Church!"

Ummm. Lily isn't even two yet and she hasn't associated church with the gospel or the good feeling she gets when she go's. Nope in her mind Church=Boys. I think we are in trouble!

Last night was the Ward's Chili Cook-off. We haven't been at all in the last two years. It was a lot of fun with really good food. Now I'm going to brag just a little: We Won! That little poem is so true. I can' believe Lily is in a toddler bed. Last night Adrian put it together and she slept in her bed all night. She didn't cry or try to sneak out. I'm so proud of what a big girl she is but I'm a little sad that she is growing up so quickly!

Cousin Addeline has been over to play a couple times in the last week. We discovered that the girls have the same PJ's in the same size! The other thing we discovered is that it's difficult to get a good picture of the two of them smiling at the same time.
Lastly, I have one week to go before my Scheduled C-section and the new baby arrives. I'm to tired and gigantic to deal with cleaning and enetertaining Lily all day so we watch tv and eat candy...Don't tell Daddy!

So Iam officialy on maternity leave from work now. Let me tell you those 12 hour shifts on my feet all day when your eight months pregnant is pretty tough. So I'm glad to be at home for a while now.

We have three weeks till baby brother arrives! The nursery is all set up. I have a few items of clothing and the house is clean! Now if only it would stay that way.

You may be wondering what I am doing with all my free time now. For one I'm trying to avoid the heat. I don't really want to know what the A/C bill is going to be next month! Also I'm trying out my fabulous homemaking skills. (LOL) I made homemade blueberry muffins this morning for the family. Lily could hardly wait for them to come out of the oven. So I was trying to wrestle Lily into her diaper and PJ's when she peed on the floor. I'm roughly 32-33 weeks pregnant and really the last thing I wanted to do was clean pee out of the carpet. I nearly cried. Earlier as I was preparing dinner I had filled a little doll bottle with water for Lily twice. I thought she was drinking it... what I discovered was that she was actually dumping it all over the coffee table. Oh well I guess it's just one of those days...

Mothers day was awesome this year. I had fun with Lily as the below pictures show. In nursery she had me a card that had her hand print on it. My heart melted when she gave it to me! It is now being displayed on our fridge. Adrian was really thoughful and got me things that I wouldn't buy for myself on a normal basis because i feel like I shouldn't spend money on myself. He got me a new coach purse and some books that I wanted to read that i didn't even tell him about. I was just getting ready to borrow them froma friend! Anyways he's amazing and I feel like I'm appreciated for trying to be supermom/wife all the time.

So I was going to be working the whole Valentines weekend, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Which means I wasn't going to spend anytime with those that I love. So when I got home from work last night there were these gorgeous flowers and a box of chocolate covered strawberries. Adrian had also ordered dinner from Thai Basil our favorite Thai food place. It was so amazing. I wasn't expecting it since he had already brought me lunch to work and another box of strawberries to share with my coworkers. Best husband ever. Sorry about the late post. But this new baby has been making me sick all the time and I haven't had the energy to post anything. Christmas seemed quick this year. It came and went before we really even knew what happened. Adrian and I both had to work Christmas eve so it wasn't really the same anyways. that being said we had a really lovely time both at my parents, (I made the prime rib!) and at Adrians. We only took pictures though of our small christmas morining at home. Lily was just figuring out how to open presenets. I'm sure next year she'll figure it all out.
